I run 255/40/17's on an 8.5 inch wheel, no problems at all. I think 255 is the cut off for 8 inch wheels. Is a 255 tire too wide for a 8.5 inch wide wheel? 255s should fit without any issues (assuming your offset suits) on any wheel that can accomodate this tyre width. Someone told me that a 9,5 wide rim would stretch the 255 tire, is it true?
